British Poker Series £200+£35 Main Event | London

During my recent trip to London, I headed over to the Genting Casino to try my hand in the British Poker Series £200+£35 main event. Long story short, I fired 2 bullets and min-cashed with £400, where I busted out with KK vs AKo where the flop came A66. Besides cashing in my first international tournament, I was very pleased with how I played near the bubble. Entering Day 2, there were 87 players remaining and I had a stack of 63k with blinds at 3k/6k/6k, which meant that I was sitting with just over 10 BB. There were 354 entries and paid out the top 58 spots, with £24k being the top prize.

Some notable hands that kept me in the game (Position/Stack Size/Hand):

(1) BB / 7BB / AKo

Preflop action, Middle Position (MP) raises to 2BB, Small Blind (SB) calls, and I flat. Flop comes A32. SB checks, I go all in with 5 BB remaining, and everyone else folds.

(2) B / 9BB/ JTo

Everyone folds to me preflop, I shove all-in. SB goes all in with 7.5 BB and BB folds so it's heads up with JTo vs 99. Flop is 987 where I have the nut straight and SB has a set of 9. Turn is a K and River is a 4. I essentially double up to 18 BB

(3) B / 6BB/ 87s

Everyone folds to me and I jam with 6BB knowing that the BB is away from the table, which means it's just me and the SB. SB ends up folding and I steal a few chips to ensure that I'm not in too much danger

When we were on the bubble, I ended up folding AJs and AKo. When looking at the very last hand I had with KK, I wonder if it was correct to actually min raise to 2 BB in EP and then calling a 3-bet. I did have 11 BB, so if I called a 3-bet that was around 5-6 BB, I would still have 5-6 BB left. As long as an A was not on the flop, I would usually win the hand. But at the time, I thought shoving was appropriate given that I wanted to make sure that I apply as much pressure to anyone who has an A-x combination where the x is less than or equal to a T.

Also, Will Kassouf is super duper nice...off the table, haha.
